Field Notes - November

Happy November,

Where we live in the Southeast, November is the month when summer finally surrenders to fall. The air loses its thickness, the air conditioner takes a welcome break, and a cup of something hot feels reasonable again. I like the shorter days and the cozy feeling of being inside.

We celebrated my oldest son’s 19th birthday last month at his favorite Mexican restaurant..and mine too because the corn tortillas are 100! I asked myself the same question I keep asking and never quite find the answer to, “Where did the time go?”

I have a boy who especially loves trucks. This model was made with spare pieces from the lego drawer. The driver wearing a backwards baseball cap and neck scarf is my favorite detail. Kids are naturally creative; we could take a cue from them.

They are also very dirty.

I tried out a slightly different way of mounting my collage botanicals. Instead of using watercolor paper that naturally curls and has a very free feeling, I used mini canvas’. I can’t decide which I like best….both!:)

Obviously, I’m in a green mood….

My art is of course, an extension of my belief that profound beauty exists in ordinary things and ordinary days. These things often deserves a second glance - and sometimes a frame - you see what I did there? :) So, instead of these monthly newsletters featuring my favorite finds with links to buy new things, etc. (although I love a good link!); I appreciate your indulgence as I remind myself that there is so much to enjoy in what I already have. I hope your November is full of gratitude.

Grace and Love,

Amy
